Robbie Maddison |
The dream started when Maddo is Wakeboarding with friends, then he realized with the right mechanics, engineering and fabrication, he could combine his passion for motocross and surfing.
After developing dozen of prototypes, testings, and two years of trial and error, he finally perfected his MotoSurf vehicle.
He then approached DC Shoes' Jeff Taylor, who is the global brand leader officer of the company to fund his dream stunt and after demonstrating his machine several miles in Mission Bay, Taylor wrote a check on that moment to support the project.
The location selected for this stunt is in Teahupo’o, Tahiti, one of the most dangerous surfing spots on the planet. Dressed in full FMX gear, he bikes through the forest, along the surface of a river and straight to the powerful surf in Teahupo'o.
He passes clueless swimmers, boaters, and surfers on the waters of Teahupo'o. Maddo, as a safety precaution, had a rescue team on standby as he performed the stunt. Maddo admittedly said "I'd become quite terrified, trembling in my boots," and "But I made my bed, and it was time to lie in it."
Watch this fantastic stunt, the first ever in the world.
