People Try Balut For The First Time

People in the west are freaked out when they heard or see other people were eating boiled duck embryo this street food are popular in the Philippines and other Southeast Asian countries like Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam.

In the Philippine we called it "Balut or Balot" in Tagalog and Malay which means "wrapped".  In the Philippines "Balut" are eaten with salt, spiced vinegar and sometimes with beer.  The broth inside the egg is sipped, then the shell is peeled, before eating the yolk and young chick inside.

The sight and the thought of eating duck embryo is quite freaky and can be offending to some people, but it is best to eat these with eyes closed before consuming the duck embryo and enjoy its tasty flavor and texture.

In this Buzzfeed video, participating people (Americans) tried to eat "Balut" for the first time, their reactions and comments are quite entertaining and some of them finds it surprisingly good.
