13-year-old Laura Bretan took the stage at  “America’s Got Talent,” Simon Cowell and the other judges didn't expect much from her, after seeing other unimpressive talents.

Laura, nervous, shy and timid walks in front of the massive audience and in front of very intimidating judge Simon, who, according to Laura "If he doesn't like you, he will the you the truth, and the truth hurts you know."

Laura is of Romanian origin, born in the United States living in Chicago.  Her mother a singer who influenced her to start singing.  At the age of 12, she began taking voice lessons and learn arias from operas.

She is now studying canto with Nicoleta Roman, a Romanian lyric artist at the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.
