Zero electricity "Air Conditioners" |
Most homes in Rural Bangladesh are made out of tin huts that go over 45° Celsius during the summer. Employees of Grameen Intel Social Business volunteered and teamed up with advertising agency
Grey Dhaka to address this issue.
Re-purposing used soft drink and water bottles and wooden board, The Eco-Cooler works without electricity to reduce temperatures up to 5° Celsius.
The plastic bottles
are cut in half and then mounted into a board grid through
bottleneck sized holes. This grid of plastic bottles can now be placed over a window, the bottle's
openning inwards to the house.
Syed Gousul Alam Shaon, chief creative officer at
Grey Dhaka, said in a statement. "Raw materials are easily available, therefore, making Eco-Coolers a cost-effective and environmentally-friendly solution."
