Jimmy Page wanted to create a song that is quite fragile at the beginning, an acoustic sound with poor man's emotion and with the instrumentation of English medieval feel which the flute provided.

The idea of "Stairway To Heaven" to have a piece of music that keeps unfolding more layers and moods as it's accelerated revealing various emotional levels and it keeps opening up as the music progresses its passage.

Robert Plant is magnificent in providing the lyrics about 90% of the song's lyrics that he wrote, and its abstraction that makes it magical that can be interpreted in so many different ways.
