The Making of Dangerous "Gutter Oil" in China




In the country where people in the society try to swindle everybody all in the name of money and big profit in the industry were people's health are at stake, we are talking about China's 'Gutter Oil' production, a used cooking oil disposed by restaurants, hotels and community residents, which ends up in the street gutter are recycled and combined with other animal fat and end's up back in restaurants, hotels and homes.

Cooking oil has been a long cherished commodity in China, where stir frying in a wok is part of daily meal preparation, higher profit margins from these gutter oils have proven irresistible for some Chinese businessmen, experts estimate that one tenth of China's cooking oil is gutter oil.

Gutter oil has been found to contain carcinogens and other toxins harmful to human that ends up in a hole-in-the-wall restaurant and street food vendors.

Chinese authorities are cracking down the illegal production sites of Gutter Oil which often discovered after people living nearby notice a nauseating stench and they alerted the authorities.
